Pom Pom Xenia wilting and strange bubblelike groth at base

Hi everyone, I have a pom pom xenia (I think, tank was given to me by a friend but I don't know the plant names for sure) that is wilting and has strange bubble-like bases. I have no idea whats wrong with it. I did a water change as soon as I found it. This tank has been set up for about 6 or so months with no problems. I have had it for about 4 months. Sorry I don't have a way to get pictures on here.

Any Ideas?
