Experienced with freshwater, new to saltwater

Hello! I've been keeping freshwater fish with my dad for my whole life, and we finally started a FOWLR tank about eight or nine months ago after talking about it for years. We started with a clownfish in a 55gal tank, but the frame to it broke and we recently upgraded to a 65gal. We currently have a pair of ocellaris clownfish, an azure damselfish, a banggai cardinalfish (we started with two), and a royal gramma, along with several hermit crabs, emerald crabs and boxer crabs.

We also used to have a valentini puffer (who was our favorite fish we've ever kept,) a bluespot jawfish and a coral beauty. We lost the beauty to a tank crash when we were new and someone moved my outtake hose from disturbing the surface and our oxygen dropped overnight.

Our tank is a 65gal with a fluval canister filter and a powerhead, but I'm going to set up a protein skimmer, sump and improve my lighting soon. We've kept corals and they didn't last too long, which I'm assuming is due to lighting, food supply, and water quality.

I joined this forum hoping to learn more about my tank setup and how to improve it.
