180 Gallon, In wall Build!

Hey everyone, I have made some major progress on my 180 gallon reef tank build, and I finally had the time to document everything for those who want to follow! So let me fill you guys in! I have a 120 gallon tall reef tank, that is pretty full of coral and such.. and I really have been wanted to upgrade to a larger tank.

A 180 gallon was the only tank I could actually swing down to my basement, so I found a great deal on craigslist on an older style oceanic for 180$!... The tank held water, but needed alittle elbow grease to give me peace of mind! My decision was made, I pulled the trigger on a brand new STARPHIRE front pane for the tank and also will reseal the entire inner seems of the tank to ensure the tank will hold water for years! (6x2x2) (1/2 glass all side, 3/4 bottem)

A Coast to Coast overflow system will be utilized for my build, giving me tremendous surface skimming and unlimited overflow rate.. the dimensions of the coast to coast will be 60"x5"x5" using 1/4" plate glass... the piping will consist of 1 1/2 herbie full siphon, 1 1/2 standpipe backup, and 1 1/2 durso backup! There will also be two return pipes introduced on the outskirts of the overflow.. these will be 1" return pipes for a broad less jet like return of roughly 2000 gph. I will be surface sanding the overflow box (1/4 inch plate glass) and painting it black with Black krylon fusion.

A 55 gallon tank will was found off craigslist for 25$, so I scooped that up and turned that into my new sump.. 1/4" plate glass was used for all baffles and overall the sump turned out amazing with 2 bubble traps!

I also took advantage of the black friday sales at BRS.com... and ordered the highly recommended REEFLO SNAPPER DART 3600 max gph pump and all the needed bulk heads for the build...

As stated above, my father and I started the in wall build for the tank... It is almost completely finished already... all we need to do is paint the stand black (for added wood protection from water)... and drywall two areas where my old jellyfish tank used to be... overall the tank will sit about 40" off the ground... I am 6'5" and the tank nearly sits high enough that I dont have to lean over at all to have total view of the tank.. it is RIGHT IN YOUR FACE!! love it... we went way overboard with the stand, but we wanted to make sure it was bulletproof!
