Hey guys!! I started my saltwater journey at 19ish and got a hard lesson in patience. It's been a few years and I've practiced more with freshwater fish and matured a bit.
I want to start again with a pre-drilled 60g cube with sump + barebottom fuge and LED lighting. I'm building it to match our party room, which is very hippie and psychedelic, but I also want to ease into things so that I don't lose any livestock.
I'd love to keep an anemone or hardy corals, but I just don't want to commit to making, storing or buying RO water anymore. I'm tired of it. Is it physically possible to keep an anemone alive under high light in tap water WITHOUT algae growing at breakneck speeds? I'll have chaeto under reverse daylight (or 24/7 light?) and a protein skimmer. A friend of mine suggested using a UV light to destroy free-floating algae organisms but that sounded sketchy to me.
My stocking list thus far is
1 bubbletip anemone and/or hardy corals, if possible
2 percula clowns
1 midas blenny
1 flame or coral beauty angel (I can't decide!)
I'm considering these but know little about them:
** designates particular interest
a reef-safe wrasse**; a pair of lyretail anthias; blue reef chromis; bicolor dottyback; foxface; blue dot jawfish**; pipefish**; chalk basslet; 1-2 firefish
I would LOVE some suggestions for fish that are both beautiful and active/dynamic, meaning nothing likely to hide or often be idle. The point of this tank (beyond my own satisfaction) is to wow our guests. I'm going for color variety and bustling activity.
