Hey guys. Site is awesome and an unbelievable source of information.
Reputable sources of information is tough to find while starting out because everyone has their own opinion about how to do things or what works for them.
Since I am new, I'm starting out very slow and overall I'm just looking to have a simple tank that's low maintenance.
I have a 75 gallon tank that I put an Aqua Clear 110 HOB on the back along with a Reef Octopus 2000 HOB skimmer. I've also added about 100 lbs of Live Sand and only about 50 lbs of live rock. Tank has been up and running for about a month now with the only inhabitant being a small snail that was hiding inside a hole in my live rock.
I feel like after reading that my filter is adequate but my skimmer, especially in the early stages of a tank, is overkill and maybe not necessary.
After reading through the general discussion help page, I could have probably already tested for ammonia levels and added a 1-2 fish?
Any advice would be much appreciated, especially on product selection.
