Protein Skimmer Recommendation

Hi fellow reefers!!!

I'm currently setting up my new 55 gallon long. I only have 16"-17" height inside of my cabinet. What's best in sump protein skimmer with that height? If there is no protein skimmer with that height, I'm planning to get reef octopus bh2000 and put in my dt also put 10 gallon refugium (with 3 section: live rocks, chaeto and return pump) in my cabinet. I read in sump protein skimmer is better than hob protein skimmer, is that true? I have 1 in-sump protein skimmers in my mind: icecap k2-120 protein skimmer. I know that icecap k2-120 is 17" high, how much room do i need to remove the cap from its body?
