I have a 90 gallon (48" X 18" X 24") that I was going to use for a reef but want to try something different. I plan to keep tree frogs on the land and some hardy freshwater fish in the pool. I was thinking about some DIY canister filter that feeds a waterfall. I'm thinking large rock in the bottom with screen to separate the soil from the water and it will slope off into the pool. I'll probably have about 20 gallons of water and 2-3 square feet of dry land that rises to approximately 20 inches in places. Plenty of live plants on land and in water are planned. I will be attempting to build a background tomorrow. I'll inform you guys if it works. I plan to use a large piece of driftwood cut in half to hide the overflow and have only the right side and front open.
I was just curious to see if anybody here had any experience with them. I will post some pics and make this a legit build thread. Any thoughts/criticisms/tips/tricks?
