So if you have yet to see any of my threads I bought a 72g bow front used tank.
All the live rock is curing right now besides what is in my temporary setup to keep CUC and the dottyback alive.
Today I removed all the sand from the 72g ....I'm going bare bottom. I scrapped around the glass and cleaned the tank as well as I could because the previous owner didn't take care of it at all (1/4 inch of salt over every inch of tank top and sump, inside stand)
Anyway I realized today that I can't clean inside the overflow area well because its a small area with pipes and I have big hands.
So first question .. What should I do about that?
The first panel of the overflow has slits in the bottom the sand was covering this and after removing the sand I now see their is sand all in between the first panel and the second panel of the overflow... I don't want this to cause a problem with nirates or become a detritus bed.
2. How do I fix that? Should I take off the first panel clean it all out then re-silicon?
3. When it comes to all the equipment I got with the tank. How should I set it up.
I have a sump with 3 sections
Protein skimmer
UV sterilizer
And 2 pumps
4. Please give me all the advice you have time to give. I don't want to set up this tank and then run into problems.
For the record I am doing as much research as I can. To the point that my girlfriend is getting mad that I'm always looking up "fish stuff" as she calls it lol
