I have a 20 gallon and a 75 gallon that I'd like to combine.
I want to take the live rock from the 20 gallon and put it into the 75 gallon tank without starting a mini cycle.
The 20 gallon is over 2 years old, the last time I cleaned it, I cleaned under the rocks and did about a 60% water change. I believe I started a mini-cycle by loosening that much detrius trapped under the rock.
My 75 gallon is always pretty clean and it's 8 months old.
I don't know how I feel about "cooking" the rock from the old tank to transfer. But if it will start a mini cycle if I don't then I will cook it or whatever I need to do to keep everything healthy.
It's about 15-20 pounds of Live rock. And there are a few sponges on it.
