Powerless gfo reactor? My little experiment

So im going to be making a DIY gfo reactor, cyano is still here and there on frags/rocks. I dont have pvc plumbing on my sump return pump so i cant make a split to share flow with reactor. Since i already have a spaghetti dish worth of wires coming out of my tank id like to make a reactor that utilizes a continuous siphon from dt, to back of tank and down to sump.

My idea is to get an acrylic container for the reactor and drop it into sump, next i would hook up some tubing to the DT, fitted with a small filterfloss attatchment to catch suspended particles, halfway down the tube split with a twist valve so i can control the flow coming in, the return line of reactor would be a elbow joint on the side of reactor about 1" or so above sump water line. This would allow water to continuously flow into reactor and just drain into sump am i correct? What are your thoughts guys. Am i saving power here, or am i crazy and just go buy a small pump?
