Interconnected Biotope Tanks (Mangrove/Estuary Concept)

Hello,
Although my account on this website is quite old I am very new to posting. So I hope to find someone that maybe has attempted this before or could just give me some insight.

I have had the wish of designing a system of connected tanks for awhile now trying to (as closely as possible) replicate the shared relationship of each biotope as the coast transitions from land to deep ocean. Simply connecting numerous tanks into the same system so they can each aid each other without destroying each other (ie separate refugium concept). Tanks such as: Mangrove, Seagrass bed, Reef, FOWLR etc.

The problem I am trying to face today is, as I understand it, most mangrove biotopes and species which live in those biotopes are actually brackish and not full saltwater. But since all the tanks would be connected, how to make one of these tanks brackish.

I do not have any specs of sizes at this time as I'm asking if anybody thinks this would even be possible. But for sake of numbers, rough estimation the combined total volume of water will be 350-500 gallons.

The theory I have come up with and am asking you to judge is if I were to put the ATO of the system into the tank in which to be brackish, and set the incoming saltwater flow from the sump to be low enough. Is it possible to make 1 tank out of a connected system brackish? I have included a very very rough diagram which I did in a couple mins just to illustrate the concept but that's it.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated thank you :)
