Just got my first UV. It is a 36w and I will be putting it on my 40B with 20L sump. It is designed for a pond, so the flow rates are excessive (like 4400). My questions are:
1. Will 200 GPH be far to slow? And would that slow flow rate kill off good bacteria as well? I don't think so, but I have read some things saying yes.
2. Should it be run 24/7, or on a timer for lights out? I am leaning 24/7, but not positive; I think that would be more beneficial. But again, would that interfere with good bacteria.
3. Where should the intake and output be located in the sump? Intake at the beginning of the sump where the drain is, then output near the return pumps. Am I thinking right?
Wanted to have a UV a little bit for dino prevention and other tasks; not one in particular. Plus, lets be honest, there is always a tool that we have yet to try. :p
Thanks in advance!
