Live Rock looking strange

hey all, so i am currently about 3 weeks into cycling my tank. parameters are ph around 8 (i check before lights out late at night.) ammonia-0 nitrite-0 and nitrate is about 80ppm (i haven't checked since i washed off the filters and did a water change last night. running a fluvial 206, marineland biowheel 350, and marineland LED's. my first week i cycled with API quick start and a bit of fish food and a frozen shrimp. I used old rock i had stowed away from a previous tank thats been drying and sitting in a box for years. I got some live rock from my LFS (the rock on both sides, middle rock is the stowed away rock.)

Now, the older rock that was stowed away in the middle which was once white looks like its been dusted with orange popcorn butter, about 2 weeks after adding the live rock on both sides. even the sand is getting colored like this. i allowed the rocks to accumulate as much of this filth as possible but have been blowing and sifting the sand so it doesn't accumulate. Its only orange-ish where the light hits it directly. Is this ok or have i made a mistake this early on? (trying to upload pics but my files are too big)
