I just set up the 29 gallon softie tank. I don't know a whole lot about these coral so I may need some help along the way. The tank has 30lbs of oolite sand (might be regretting this) and will have a 10 gallon sump hooked up below. I am getting a 27" maxspect razor this coming weekend for lighting. My first question is... is carbon necessary to run on softie tanks? If I have all soft coral and zoas is the chemical warfare against the same, or does it only affect stony coral? This will be skimmer-less... for now at least.
