Tap water and phosphates in my new tank

Hey all,

I am brand new with saltwater and reef tanks.
About 3 weeks ago, I set up a new, 29 gallon reef tank, live rock (25 lbs), live sand bottom with on HOB filter and a Current reef light. I have just stocked 1 clownfish, 1 4 stripe damsel, and 1 purple dottyback.
When I started this tank up, I hauled my RO/DI water in buckets back from the store... and filled it with that. Since then I bought one of those RO Buddie systems (first newbie mistake) to filter water for the changes. I did my first water change using that water and didn't test it (second newbie mistake) and now I have found that I not only have phosphates in my water, but I've got a pretty decent outbreak of brown algae. I pretty much just did my first water change with pure tap water.
My fish seem to be ok for the moment, and I just did another water change with RO water from my LFS until my BRS RODI system arrives.
My question to you guys is will those phosphates (and algae) go away with future water changes and phosphate pads loaded in my filter? Or is there anything else I should be doing as well?
