I was thinking when i setup my 75g in my quest to keep the sandbed clean i had an idea.
Similar to paulb's rugf, itbwould be a series of either pvc or viynl tubing throughout the sandbed with a pump pushing water thru them at a moderate rate. Kindve like those watering hoses for gardens that have all the holes in them. The holes would be oriented downward and the flow would be high enough to kindve make the sandbed look like it was vibrating. This would hopefully keep detritus pushed out rather then being sunk into the sandbed.
Any thoughts on this?
