10 gallon nano reef lid

I am setting up a 10 gallon nano reef using a standard rimmed 10 gallon tank. I have a glass lid on it with the plastic cut out in the back. I am having a lot of trouble finding supplies that work with the lid. I can't fit a protein skimmer and I'm having trouble finding decent lights that don't overhang the hinges to open the lid.

Do I need this lid? I plan on putting a clown in the tank. Will it jump? What about evaporation? Is there a better option besides the standard glass lid?
