I picked up a very healthy looking hammer coral yesterday from my lfs. I drip acclimated it for and hour and a half and placed it in the tank. It hasn't fully opened yet, half way opened I'd say. However, today it looked like it was shriveling up and poop was coming out the mouth. I got worried and checked my parameters,
Ph 8.0
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrate 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Salinity 1.023-1.024
Temperature 80°F
Half way through the tests the hammer started looking better. Now for my questions:
Do they normally shrivel up when they poo?
How long should it take for the coral to fully open? And should I move it around after 24 hours of not fully opening til I find a place it likes?
