Polyfilter in baffles?

So my lfs felt pretty bad that ive been losing alot of frags and threw me a free polyfilter today. They said try to get it in a place in sump where water would go through it. I figured out that my diy baffles are the perfect fit to squeeze one in.

My sump water line dropped because of the increased resistance. So i turned down my rio return pump to match water line again. It was 300gph unrestriced after head, now im guessing its around 150-125 gph, this is better anyway considering its a 10g sump/refug and my skimmer is 65g rated, not sure the gph on skimmer but its a coralife super skimmer 65. Am i right by doing this or should i remove poly filter and stick it in my return area like previously..
