Reading some olds posts and been debating if i should set up my display refugium or not. Posted in the think tank but hasn't gotten anything and i am kinda sitting here with a tank in my room.
So i have a 60 cube been up and running for a while currently have a lot of lps and softie corals. I would like to do a mixed reef because i pretty much want every type of thing in my tank i can. Currently have a small sump but it has my heaters and a Reef octopus skimmer in it that is keeping my tank pretty clean. I do 5 gallon water changes weekly nitrates hover around 5 phosphate is unreadable(API test kit i need to replace it) everything in my tank is healthy and growing.
So in my course of wanting everything i decided a mandarin would be a great addition but then of course i found out about there diet needs and need for a healthy pod population. So i thought about how i could do this looked at some other reefers suggestions and ended up with the plan of adding a display refugium to my tank. So i bought a 29 gallon tank at petco and i have a long list of things to do to get it up and running.
THEN i read http://ift.tt/1jWhJGF
and Geoff's tag stuck into my head "Friends Don't Let Friends Use Refugiums!"
So here is my question. Is keeping a display refugium a death sentence on ever keeping a healthy sps coral population?
