Hey guys,
Hope you can help me out with the most recent problem I am dealing with. My tank is on its 3rd week of cycling and has now began to accumulate a rust colored algea. I think I may be seeing some hair algea as well. I have about 38lb base and 9lb live rock. Got rid of a few Aiptasia last week but I have been seeing a rust colored algea bloom. First it was on just the two live rocks and then a couple of patches in the substrate. Once I added my new lighting this addelgea took over the substrate and is on all of the rocks. Since I'm only on week 3 I didn't think a water change would be a good idea and my parameters have been good so I picked up 3 red leg hermits and 5 margarita snails but two of the snails seems to only be interested in eachother and aside from the hermits they don't seem to do much. - they all seem happy and active... just not making much progress on the algea. I plan on adding another powerhead as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I get more crabs or any other live stock?
I really didn't want to put any live stock in my tank until 4-6 weeks but I'm failure certain the cycle has already run its course.
