Humble pie today

Well gonna eat a big piece of it. Been in this hobby for 15 years and just when I think I got it down pat, boom. So finally got off my wallet and bought a Redsea ATC refractometer ($59). Have always used a hydrometer and when my Apex was installed it backed up that the old swing arm was pretty good. We'll that's all out the window. Apex and hydrometer are reading 36.4 give or take 1.027. Well calibrated and recalibrated this refractometer until it's reading 35 ever time with the 35 ppt solution. Well hear comes the humble pie in my face, tank is at 40 ppt or 1.029+!!!! Been chasing some issues for a while that high salinity would explain! Gonna take out 4 or 5 gallons and replace with the same amount of RODI water and start to bring this down slowly. Guess the Apex needs to be recalibrated also.

Just thought I would share this one with everyone. New it was a little high at 1.027 but what the heck!!
