Noob could use a bit of help

I currently have a 30gal FOWLR setup and I'm going to be transferring that into a 36gal bow front with the intentions of having a few pieces of coral eventually. The bow front is not drilled so i will not be having a sump, so my question is can i get away with just my live rock, power head, and a skimmer or will I need some kind of a canister or hang on back filter? Is there anything else I need to add to be successful??
