Hey there, if anyone owns these heaters you know that the suction cups are a complete joke! Here is a website I found that sells the type that are a replacement and hopefully stick to the glass better. I'm gonna order a pack today and let you know how they preform. http://ift.tt/2gomoUn

Sump fish
I got one, most neglicted, never fed but truly the most deep colored yellow tail damsel. I have had damsel spawns parents to ugly and fat. Those fat and uglys always eat the eggs.
What to do after all your fish die
All my fish died from Marine Velvet, and I have an empty tank. I really don't want to give up, as I have put a lot of money into the tank, but on the other hand it is really upsetting, as all my fish had personalities and names and the kids and I loved them etc. But what's next, do I just leave it running, and for how long?

Plumbing
I need help setting up the plumbing to my sump.
I just got a little 30 gallon and am going to have it drilled here soon, but figured I should sort everything else out first.
How many of what size holes should I drill?
-I'm not sure if I should have one main and one emergency or if I just need the one hole for the single drain line.
-I am drilling the back panel and was planning on installing the overflow box near the top left corner as the sump will be on the left side of the stand so it will be able to just drain straight down.
How should I go about routing the return line?
-Do I have to drill another hole for that to go back up to the overflow and cut some of the grooves of the overflow box to allow that to come back out of it, or drill a hole on the opposite side, closer to the section of the sump so it would have to go all the way back by the drain line.
What size overflow should I get? I found one that I liked rated for 1200 GPH. Will that be too big? I figured I would install a ball valve on the drain line to modify the actual GPH a little. I just want to find something that will allow me to fit whatever plumbing is needed and anything much smaller looked like it wouldn't allow that.
Sorry! I've tried to read as much as I can about plumbing and everything but would like some help.

welcome to Friday!
Good morning TRT Friends, and.....HAPPY FRIDAY! Another beautiful fall day here at the Jersey Shore.....sunny and in the 60's. But looks like come Sunday we'll only climb into the 40's. Was just in the mood for some more Thomas's English muffins again today with your choice of jellies, (And yes plenty of cherry jelly to go around.), to go with our coffee and pink milk for eye openers. Staying just busy enough at the boatyard to stay at the boatyard. Lots of optimistic fishermen cluttering up our yard with ill parked vehicles still coming back empty handed. Fish are still a touch north of us. All the best to all today,

Hey everyone! New around here!
Hello everyone! My name is Sieu, I've just started a 5 gallon tank so I can have things to look at while I do school work and play around on the computer.
I purchased a 5 gallon topfin tank, since it was the only tank that I could find that would fit in the spot I had on my desk.

I'm in the process of getting a new light and a new pump.
Light: A80 Tuna Blue Nano LED Light - Kessil
Pump: VorTech MP10wQD QuietDrive Propeller Pump - EcoTech Marine
My end goal is to have a few corals, an anemone, and one or two clown fish.
I have a few questions:
1. Is it fine to cycle my tank with just live sand? Should I introduce a damsel?
2. Currently, everything is at zero according to the test, and the pH level is at 8.2 which I think is good? Is it not?
3. Should I just buy a small piece of live rock to help cycle? I decided to go with the white rock because I could build a structure that I wanted.
4. Since I live in Oregon, and our water is very clean since it's Mt. Hood runoff, should I still use RODI? I've had freshwater tanks in my house for over 10 years, and we've always used tap water and added the water conditioner.
5. There's like a filmy, oily substance floating on the top, there's nothing in my tank as I set it up yesterday, anything to worry about?
