Metal Halide Fixture And Spongode Colony For Sale

I have a Coralife metal halide tank mount fixture for sale. I was going to either use on a frag tank or set up a 30g but I wont be doing either. I also have a large colony of montipora spongode for sale. I live in Necedah and would be willing to meet south side of Tomah.

New light, I opened the box but never took it out. Includes 150w fixture and bulb $160 or best offer.




Montipora spongodes measures about 7 inches by 5 inches. This is a pretty big plate that was below another plate which is why there is a color variation. $50 or best offer





DIY Sump/Refugium

Ok all you DIY'ers I need you you help here, I'm pretty good with tools and have done some DIY work to my tank already but now it's time for a new sump and I don't want to spend 4-500$ on a new sump when I have to buy a good skimmer too. I want to convert a tank into a sump Refugium but I'm not sure what the best way to do this is, I want a big enough chamber for a good sized fuge but I also want room for some filter socks and then the return chamber, I also need to know the best place to put the skimmer, can it go in the same chamber as the return pump or how does that work? Thanks for you help guys... Oh I'm looking at using a 29 gallon tank or maybe a 20 if I can't fit the 29 under my tank


Bio load question

So this is probably a goofy question but while it's clearly understood fish create bio loads in our tanks and we manage quantities I am recently converting from FOWLR to reef.

So my goofy question is... does coral add to bio load? I'm sure the "feeding" of course does but like you limit fish do you have to limit coral?

Cloudy Water

Hello everyone.
So, over the last 2 weeks I noticed that my 16 gallon tank was starting to get a little cloudy or milky looking. I've been monitoring all of the basic parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Ph, salinity) and to my knowledge everything seems to be in check. Well, over this last week since my last water chance, the tank has gotten a lot worse. It almost looks like swirling clouds within the water.

Well, after doing all the research I could, I think it may be calcium carbonate precipitate in the water column but I really don't know for sure. I have 2 fish (both fire fish) and a cleaner shrimp as the only livestock in the tank. I did a larger WC yesterday evening (30%) since it was the first time that I noticed a change in mood of my fish and my 1 small zoa colony. The 2 firefish went into hiding and my zoas were partially closed. I'm sort of at a loss as to how to clear it up at this point.

I did read somewhere that the salt mix can make water cloudy and since I was at the bottom portion of the bag, I bought a new bag of instant ocean salt mix. I also changed feedings to every other day when I first noticed the cloudiness but it hasn't seemed to affect the water clarity any.

Finally Friday!

Good mawnin', TRT!

Coffee is ready, French toast with Dave's maple syrup. Local strawberries with just a hint of sugar so they can make their own juice. Milk to go on top.

Had a good comp day yesterday. Today will be different as it's the beginning of Spring Fling. Tonight will be a bike race around town, so the library parking lot will be full. I'm working the late shift with the department head, and she is due to deliver her first baby any second. :eek:

To nem or not to nem?

So tonight I was offered a mature, and very healthy sebae anemone (H. crispa). He's about 12-18" fully extended, toffee colored with purple tips. Coming from a 300g (6 mo) display (500g system), upgraded from a 90.

I'm on the fence about trying to take on this beast. I managed to nurse a long tentacle (M. doreensis) back from the dead, but he lives in a 180g.

The offer is still up, but I need new lights. This new nem would have to live in my 30g hex (18 mos). I can rearrange rock and add sand for his pleasure, and replace my lights. I just wanted some input on whether this is a good idea or not.
