Barnacles?

I've got what look like little barnacles (white spots with a dot in the middle) growing in my Biocube. They seem to prefer black objects like the back, or power heads, or magnet glass scrapper. Or is this just an early stage in coralline growth?

Just curious...happy either way ;-)

House Meetings

It has come to my attention That not everyone likes to go to peoples houses. So i was thinking maybe we can have a meeting every month at Petco and have an open house. If we have a reefer who would like to show off there tanks and such.

I feel people get a better idea of what your talking about if your right in front of the tank so I would hate to see us have meetings strictly at Petco. But I want to make majority of the people happy.

So what does everyone else think?

Diodogorgia nodulifera polyps extension mystery

I didn't know where to put this thread maybe the mod can help me here thank.

I have a Diodogorgia nodulifera

The red dots are where the white polyps retracts . When the branch is not healthy they disapear and the branch waste away.

here you see a few guards polyps on duty , that measure particule concentration, if present they'll entend and soon the others will entend.

That in theory goes with strong flows; However!!!!

Loud mp40 motor

So I just made the jump and bought the Vortech mp40 for my 75 gallon. My 2 small issues r the actual motor is a little loud. I have it on the short pulse mode and every time it ramps up I can hear it. It's not loud but annoying me. I can't hear it with the tv on but when it is all quite I can hear clearly. Any chance it just needs to break in a little and this will go away?

The other thing is the motor is warm. I only have the pulse at 50% with the pulse interval a notch shorter. Just want to make sure this is normal and the motor isn't defective.

Today is day 4 of having it running.

Tuesday, no foolin'

Good mawnin', TRT!

Coffee is ready. French toast with VT maple syrup this AM. There's two kinds of bacon this AM: crispy and soft cooked. Nanners and clementine tangerines. Sit down and enjoy a relaxing moment.

George - Sorry to hear that yesterday went all wrong. I hope today is a bit smoother.

Lots of love and hugs and peace, for heaven's sake peace, to everyone.

BTA's hiding

Hi All,

I'm having issues with my BTA's hiding. They are still attached to rocks, still have colour, but are shrivelled and all out of sight. Everything else in the tank is doing great.

My Params:

Sal - 1.025

DKh - 10

Ca - 460

Nitrate - 0

Phos - 0

Ammonia - 0

Lighting - AI Hydras approx 10 inches above tank

White - 50%

Violet - 90%

Dark Blue - 90%

Royal - 90%

Red - 15%

Green - 15%

UV - 20%

Flow - MP10

Also running carbon, Skimmer, biopellets and fuge with various macro.

Tank has been up and running for about a year, they will accept food, but just refuse to inflate or come out of hiding.

I've thoroughly checked for anything in the tank that might be ticking them off, but nothing.

Am I missing something here?

The only thing I can think of is that my water may be TOO clean? I'm afraid that my filtration is over the top and my low nutrient levels are annoying them? I've read that low nutrient levels can cause them harm.

If someone could chime in I'd really appreciate it!

Painting my tanks backside!

Hi again guys,

Hey I was wondering about painting the back glass of my aquarium a Blue or Black!

I wanted some of your opinion's about what colors would go best with my White stand and canopy.

Also what kind of paint to buy!

I know you should only clean your outside glass with water and not chemicals because it could get into the tank threw the glass, so I didn't want this to happen to my tank by painting the glass with a paint!

I just don't like the look of the plastic back grounds, they are just so cheesy and I plan in time to have purple coral line growing on the back glass, but I need something in the mean time,

If you can help me out on what to do I would greatly appreciate it.
