Mantis Shrimp

Hi. I recently stumbled upon a mantis shrimp for sale for 20$ at LA. I have done some research and they are awesome little buggers. I would love to add one to my tank. But, here is the tricky part. I have a 40g community reef tank, and I like my fish and coral so he can't just go in my display tank. I was hoping I could isolate a 7"/12" section of my tank just for him. I was hoping I would be able to make a plexiglass divider, To keep my fish and coral ALIVE! and safe from the little devil. Would this work? Also, I read Mantis shrimp could break glass, would I have to worry about that? Finally, What type of Mantis Shrimp would be best?

New 300 Gal in wall with dedicated room setup

I am building a new house and i am setting up a 300 gal reef tank built into wall with a dedicated room for equipment ect..

I had multiple tanks for 4-5 years but have been out of the hobby for 6 years so i need alot of advice of how to put this project together and specifically the size and setup of the room as i am in the process of designing the home now.

I have attached a quick sketch i put together of what i think the room should look like but not sure if i have it right.

After that i will need to talk about what hardware to get..

Thank you in advance...

Scott

Identify good or bad hitchiker

Can you help me figure out what this guy is. It appears to be a crab but not sure if I want him in our reef tank He peeked out of our live rock. He grabbed a chromis that wasnt doing very well and pulled it into hole and ate its head off! Yikes, right?!! The pic isn't the best, I'll try tonight to get a better one. He's in bottom middle of image. Thanks for any help or advice!!
