Dumb Question About Powerheads

The algae on my powerheads grows faster than anything on the planet. I clean them off every time I do a water change (once a week) but they sprout almost overnight. I clean them off. The algae grows back. I clean inside them with a Qtip.......under the blades.....

Is there a dip I can soak those babies in that will kill the algae?

My phosphates are 0. Water parameters are excellent all across the board. Having some trouble keeping the pH up to 8, and the kH up to 8-9, but I stay on it every day.

Thanks!

Common starfish melting?!

I got a common starfish earlier this week (Tuesday) and today when I took a look at it, one of it's arms was white at the tip/falling apart. What would cause this? And can it be stopped? I acclimated it for about 2 hours before placing it in the tank, and it has been stuck to the glass where I put it for the past two nights without any signs of distress. Its so hard to tell with things like this though until they start dying. What a bummer.

Which Rabbitfish should i get?

Just wonder what you guys all think. I recently lost a one spotted foxface that i loved dearly (dang carpet anemone).

I am trying to replace Foxy (which can never truly be replaced) but i would like to get a fish from the rabbitfish family.

Right now i am between these 3.

-Decorated Foxface
-Magnificent Foxface
-Gold spotted rabbit fish

Which one do you guys think would be best?

It's here....Friday!

Good morning TRT friends, and.....HAPPY FRIDAY! Upper 70's and sun/clouds, and tourists. Frosted cherry Pop-Tarts to go with our coffee and pink milk as I'm sorta running a tad late. Got a sea trial first thing this morning, and needing to catch the tide. So hope all are well, and have a great day,
Hack

My candy cane coral won't open.

I just bought a candy cane coral yesterday and he hasn't opened. I placed him in the sand bed. My salinity is 1.024 and my calcium is a bit low. Around 385. I'm going to raise it. My tank has been set up for 3 weeks. I tested my water and everything is good. What's wrong with the candy cane coral?

Waveline DC 6000 replacement fittings

Hi All,

I am in desperate need of a couple of new fitting for my waveline DC 6000 pump. I have searched the internet up and down and cannot find them let alone a number for the manufacturer. Specifically the suction side. The pump is about a year old and a month ago it started sucking air at the suction fitting. Turn the pump off and it leaks water. I put some silicone on it which slowed it down almost to nothing but it has started leaking again. Any ideas?

Thanks Jason

How much do snails REALLY help?

I'm wondering how much snails really help in your reef tank, I only have three right no and I'm planning on getting more. I'm wondering if I got lots of Turbo snails to meet my algae intake maybe 20 for a 90 gal? Would that make a stable environment? Also would I need to worry about breeding with so many?\

Thanks!
