Sunrise Sunday

Not as bad as I thought, only a chilly 11 with no wind this morning.

At the airport headed to Cleveland. My mileage stuff came in handy to go to the short lines at check in and security. It is a zoo here.

Have a great Sunday.

75 gallon SPS reef

Hey all just figured I would share my current setup and specs. I had to reset up my old system and start fresh due to losing the battle to AEFW about 8 months ago.
So here it is.

Display:75 gallon Marineland tank, drilled with 1 1/2" overflow.

Sump:29gal with baffles/ ehiem 250 Watt heat.

Return:mag 12

Lightning:" Hamilton belize sun 2x250 Watt halides burning reeflux 12ks, 2x54watt ATI blue +.

Watermotion: 2x vortech mp40w 100% power running reef crest mode on anti synch.

Filtration/skimmer: super reef octopus xp1000 cone. Filters ocker and carbon are run occasionally.

Auto top off: Tunze osmolator/ pushed through a Precision Marine Kalk reactor.

Korallin c-1502 calcium reactor.

controller: Reefkeeper lite plus, Milwaukee sms 122, dedicated laptop interface for rk/reefnotes.

Routine: 1 15 gallon waterchange every 2 weeks or so, KZ coral aminos daily, lugols iodine every few days, vinegar in my ATO.

Feeding: 3× a day, frozen mysis, flake, ultra life spectrum pellets, Nori, rotifers, baby brine, cyclops.

the system in about to turn 8 months old, letting stuff grow out and color up, I have an affinity for buying browned out acros from the LFS as the owner marks them down quite a bit, plus it's always fun to watch them color up and develop, also saves a bit of money.

Yellow long nose butterflyfish and sailfin tang

Will tangs fight with butterflyfish? I have a non aggressive sailfin tang. It's a model citizen. I want to add a yellow long nose butteryfly fish. Do you think there will be any aggression between the two?

Leopard wrasse HELP

Any one know what would cause this? It's like a bite, and got infected overnight, nothing I could do this morning it was to late.

New to reefing

I've been into aquarium's for 15 years now. I'm only 9 months into my first reef tank. Everything been going great except for the last month or so. Some of my corals are not opening up like they use to, also starting to get a lot more green hair algae . I have a 28 gallon nano cube intermediate LED with an aquamaxx hob protein skimmer. I do bi-weekly 5 gallon water changes. Nitrates are 5 ppm. Need some tips on what I can do different.I have a hammer coral, colt leather, couple zoanthids, 2 Duncan corals, and a acan. I run the main lights for 6 hrs and the moonlights 1 hour before and after.

Quick question about sediment filters

I have well water, and with our month of apocalyptic storms there appears to be a whole bunch of sediment running into my well, enough to make my filter dark brown in a short amount of time. Yes, I will probably die from drinking it, but that's not important right now. What is important is keeping my other filters from fouling.

Like most, I have a sediment stage followed by 2 carbon. Would i be better off with 2 sediment and one carbon?

Return Pump question?

I have a 68 Gallon Cadlights tank. It came with a 1" drain and a 1/2" return line. The pump that came with it is rated at 500GPH and I would obviously like to swap it our for a more powerful one. It's approximately 3' from the sump to the bottom of the overflow. In looking at the submersible pumps available, the most powerful ones are about 700GPH with a 1/2" outlet. So the question is... Do I settle for that or is there a way to work around it? I assume I could get a larger pump and work with a reducer to a 1/2" at the return line going up into the overflow. I guess I could also run a line up the back of the tank instead of using the overflow. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thank you!
