Micro bubble problem in a new tank

hi, looking for help with a new tank set up. I just set up a 155 gallon bow front corner aquarium. it has a 30 gallon sump with a 1 1/2" drain line dumping into the sump on one end. it has a compartment for the skimmer a refugium and a separate compartment with a 2600 gph submersible pump with a 1" return into a bulkhead. as drain line enters the sump it makes a lot of noise and is full of bubbles. it has several baffles in the sump but most bubbles still make it back into the tank. it does the same with and without the skimmer running. I tried to slow down the return with a ball valve but the pump just sucks dry. should I try to throttle the pump down? any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One month update

Our 90g tank with 55g sump/refugium has been running for just over 4 weeks now and all water parameters are still looking good, even with the 3 cucumbers (they came with the tank), a clean up crew and our newest additions... our first fish... 2 clowns. Meet Trump (Orange - of course - Ocellaris) and Sushi (Black Ocellaris). My kids picked out their names!

They were added 1 week ago today and have been doing great. They have paired nicely and rarely separate in the tank. They are very curious and comfortable (follow us around every time we are near the tank), and they have a favorite spot where they hang out together at night (bottom front left corner). They don't hide at all and seem very happy. All water readings are still at 0 except phosphates moved from 0 to 0.25 prior to a 15g water change yesterday.

Yes, you will still see a lot of algae, although it is about 70% less than it was 3 weeks ago. It continues to improve, but still have a ways to go.

We will let Trump and Sushi continue to get settled in and will look to add another fish in about 2 -3 weeks. Thinking of Dwarf Angel or Foxface. Not sure yet. Will wait a few more months before adding any coral or anemones.

Help with my new project.

I was recently given a very nice 27 gal hexagon tank. I am thinking of doing a fowlr tank with Ocellaris clownfish , my first marine set up. I have a ton of experience with fresh water systems.
What equipment should i buy to make it run smooth and any suggestions would be great.

Keeping starfish!

Hello everyone! I am curious how hard it is to keep a starfish.

I want one myself, but dont know if it will be happy in my tank.

Does my tank have to be a certain age before getting one? What do they eat? What kinds of starfish are reef safe? Etc.

I won't be getting one anytime soon, just thought i would start my research early.
